LEARN TO SKATE PROGRAM- YOUTH & ADULT

Session 2 Online Registration will run February 12-March 2, 2024. Session 2 starts March 12, 2024.

Each program includes an 8 week session of 8 one hour classes. Price is $170, sales tax included. Registration is February 12-March 2 online ONLY. March 2024 LTS Schedule

Make ups are available during the same 8 week session. No refunds once the session has begun.

All group skaters must have current liability insurance  $18.50 (must purchase separately) with www.learntoskateusa.com prior to the first class. Liability insurance runs July 1- June 30 each year.

Each session includes:

  • 45 minutes of instruction
  • 15 minutes of practice
  • Free skate rental for class if needed
  • Official basic skills record book
  • No class larger than ten students
  • Certificate of completion

Adult Beginner Basic Skills

Tuesday 5:00 PM or Saturdays 10:30 AM or 11:45 AM
These sessions include stretching, a group lesson, and socializing. This is a wonderful way to meet new people, exercise, and learn to enjoy the fun and exhilaration of ice skating. Those who have never skated before will be surprised how much they can learn in a short period of time. All levels of coaching will be available during the class.

ADULT 1

  1. Falling and recovery on ice
  2. Forward marching
  3. Forward two-foot glide
  4. Forward swizzles (4-6 in a row)
  5. One forward swizzle/one backward swizzle (rocking horse)
  6. Dip G Forward snowplow stop (one or two feet)

ADULT 2

  1. Forward skating across the width of the ice
  2. Forward one-foot glides (R and L)
  3. Forward slalom
  4. Backward wiggles
  5. Backward swizzles (4-6 in a row)
  6. Two-foot turns in place

ADULT 3

  1. Forward stroking with proper blade use (begin with repetitive one-foot pushes)
  2. Forward half-swizzle pumps on the circle, clockwise and counterclockwise (6-8 in a row)
  3. Moving forward to backward and backward to forward two-foot turn on a circle, clockwise and counterclockwise
  4. Backward skating into a long two-foot glide
  5. Forward chasses on a circle, clockwise and counterclockwise
  6. Backward snowplow stop (R and L)

ADULT 4

  1. Forward outside edge on a circle (R and L)
  2. Forward inside edge on a circle (R and L)
  3. Forward crossovers, clockwise and counterclockwise
  4. Backward one-foot glides (R and L)
  5. Backward half-swizzle pumps on a circle, clockwise and counterclockwise
  6. Hockey stop, both directions

ADULT 5

  1. Backward outside edge on circle (R and L)
  2. Backward inside edge on a circle (R and L)
  3. Backward crossovers, clockwise and counterclockwise
  4. Forward outside three-turn (R and L)
  5. Forward swing rolls to a count of six
  6. Beginning two-foot spin

ADULT 6

  1. Forward stroking with crossover end patterns
  2. Backward stroking with crossover end patterns
  3. Forward inside three-turn (R and L)
  4. Beginning power pull (R and L)
  5. T-stop (R or L)
  6. Lunge
  7. Two-foot spin into one-foot spin (USp)
